The CCCOE Human Resources Department provides resources and support to the certificated and classified staffs of school districts in Contra Costa County and beyond to assist them with CalSTRS and CalPERS procedures, rules and regulations.

CalSTRS Counseling Appointments

  • CalSTRS Benefits Counselors Joseph Arenivar, John Buffo, and Stephen Gale currently offer individual counseling appointments to certificated school employees Mondays - Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Contra Costa County Office of Education's Office in Pleasant Hill. These counseling services provide information about the retirement benefits, disability benefits, and survivor benefits available through CalSTRS. Arrangements may also be made for a Benefits Counselor to visit your school site to conduct individual appointments. To schedule an appointment, please contact Krista Eddy at (925) 942-5375 or (925) 942-3317.

CalSTRS Telephone Counseling

  • CalSTRS now offers telephone appointments with counselors at their headquarters in Sacramento. These appointments are available during regular business hours, as well as evenings and Saturdays. If you would like to schedule a telephone appointment, please call CalSTRS at (800) 228-5453.


CalSTRS Workshops

  • CalSTRS Workshops are available to help you meet your financial and retirement planning needs. These workshops will help you understand all of the CalSTRS benefits available to you. They are designed to meet the needs of educators at different career stages and are scheduled throughout the year at various district locations for the convenience of CalSTRS covered employees.
