Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) in partnership with Adrienne DeWolfe with Region IV CTAP and Eileen C. Walters with CCCOE is hosting a series of webinars covering the issues surrounding Digital Citizenship and other Current Topics.
In these sessions, there will be nationally recognized guest speakers and resources including NetSmartz and Common Sense Media. We will also leave time for questions from our participants.
This webinar series will cover topics such as:
With their many hand-held devices, students are mobile, wireless and on-the-go. How do you support productive uses of student communication when it is outside of our local area networks? Situations have arisen ranging from cyberbullying to sexting to cheating in schools. Where does your school district stand on the issue of mobile technology use? How can you balance the benefits of mobile technology in learning with the controls needed to provide a safe environment? A legal expert will address these questions and provide guidance on the latest updates to California education code.
Guest presenter will be attorney Jan Tomsky, the managing partner of Fagen, Friedman and Fulfrost's Oakland office. She has an extensive practice with particular emphasis in special education and student matters, particularly those that involve complex or sensitive issues.
This webinar is geared to administrators and teachers looking for resources and guidance to share with parents at their sites.
Digital devices are some of our children's favorite tools and toys, but how do we manage their use? Join us for an informative and sometimes humorous talk, presenting a balanced approach to parenting in the 21st Century. Learn about many resources and tools that can help guide your parents to steering their digital natives through our exponentially growing media-saturated society.
This webinar series will cover topics such as:
Our students are growing up in a digital world of social networking and texting. That does not necessarily mean they understand appropriate behavior, digital citizenship and consequences of poor choices. What do students need to know? Learn about great lessons and resources to use with students. Consider ideas to implement a campus-wide campaign on these issues. Come away with many resources as well as a survey to find out your students perceptions of these issues.
Guest presenter will be Adrienne DeWolfe, Technology Specialist, CTAP Region 4 and CCCOE
